You are an undergraduate or graduate

You may be eligible for exemptions from some CIMA exams, depending on the degree you hold or are studying for.

If you hold an MBA or Master’s in Accounting, you may be eligible for our Master’s gateway route.

You may be eligible for exemptions from the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting or from certain exams within the CIMA Professional Qualification if you hold or are studying for:

– A degree accredited by CIMA
– A degree related to accounting, business, finance or law

If you have a degree in another discipline, you start by studying the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, which will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of accounting. You then progress to the CIMA Professional Qualification with all the knowledge you need to succeed.

I’m about to leave school

As a school leaver, you start CIMA by studying the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, which will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of management accounting. The certificate is a standalone qualification as well as being the stepping stone to the CIMA Professional Qualification.

I’m working

If you have no formal education in business or finance, you will start by studying the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, which will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of management accounting. You can study it as a stand-alone qualification or as a stepping stone to the CIMA Professional Qualification.

I’m a member of another professional body

As a member of another professional body, you may be eligible for a fast track route into the CIMA qualification.

IFAC bodies – members and passed finalists
If you are a member or passed finalist of an IFAC body, you may be eligible for advanced entry to CIMA through the professional gateway route.

ICWAI, ICMAP and ICMAB members and passed finalists
If you are a member or passed finalist of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI), the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) or a member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP), you may be eligible for advanced entry to CIMA through the management accountant gateway route.

AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting (QCF) holders
If you have completed the level 4 AAT Diploma in Accounting (QCF), you are eligible for a fast-track to the CIMA Professional Qualification.

Other professional qualifications
If you hold a qualification with another professional body on our CIMA accredited programmes’ database, you may be eligible for exemptions from some exams in the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and the CIMA Professional Qualification.
