What are PMI® standards?

Project management standards are developed on the basis of association members’ experience, gathered in a compendium – Project Management Body of Knowledge,
Based on the decision of the American National Standard Istitute, PMBOK® Guide has become the binding standard in the field of project management.

PMI® in Poland

In 2003 PMI®, the world’s leading professional non-profit association, established the Project Management Institute PMI Warsaw, Poland Chapter,
On 8 May 2007 the association changed its name to PMI Poland Chapter (PMI Poland) and transformed its structure by establishing 5 branches in Gdansk, Krakow, Lodz, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw.

What is the CAPM® certification?

Certified Associate in Project Management® (CAPM) is a PMI® certification that validates knowledge in the area of project management.

Who is the CAPM certificate for?

The certificate programme is specifically designed to meet the needs of novices in the art of project management, project team members and students who want to confirm their competencies in the field and outline their future career path.

How do I obtain the CAPM certification?

To obtain and maintain the CAPM certification, you must meet the minimum requirements set by PMI® and then renew it every 5 years by passing the exam again.

CAPM®

The CAPM® certification proves that you are familiar with the basics of project management, the processes and standards involved and the professional terminology.

How much does a CAPM certificate cost:

Registering for the CAPM® examination

Registration for the CAPM® exam can be done via the Institute’s website: http://www.pmi.org, where the candidate will be asked to fill in the relevant forms concerning his/her education and work experience or having taken the relevant educational course. PMI® distinguishes two types of candidates:

those with 1500 working hours spent working in a project team and those with a high school education. This option requires you to complete the Experience Verification Form – one for each project – and attach it to your application. The form includes information about the project in which the candidate participated and contact information for a person who can verify the demonstrated experience,
23 hours of formal education in project management and a high school diploma. Courses and training provided by PMI®-authorised institutions, as well as project management colleges and other specialised institutions are recognised.
If the requirements set by PMI® are met and verified on the basis of the application, the candidate receives a letter (eligibility letter) confirming the possibility of taking the exam.

Payment of the examination fee

A fee of $300 or €250 ($225 or €185 for PMI members respectively) must be paid with the exam registration. The fee is payable by credit card.

If, during the verification of the candidate’s data, the Institute determines that the conditions for eligibility for the exam have not been met, part of the fee will be refunded. PMI® also conducts a random audit, during which it examines a person’s documentation in depth. This may occur even after the certificate has been received. If PMI® finds irregularities in this case, the certificate will be cancelled and the individual will not be entitled to a refund of the exam fee.

Taking the CAPM® exam

Once registered, an applicant for CAPM® certification has one year to take the exam. During this time he/she may take it a maximum of three times for a maximum of two consecutive attempts at $200 or €170 each (for PMI® members $150 or €125 respectively).

If you do not pass the exam in three attempts, you will not be allowed to take it again until one year after the last attempt. You will then have to register again and pay the associated costs.

What is a PMP certification?

Project Management Professional® (PMP) is a specialized professional certificate confirming the highest level of competence in project management.

How to get a PMP certification?

To become and remain certified you need to pass a rigorous examination and then renew it every 3 years by actively accumulating PDU (Professional Development Unit) credits.

What are the benefits of the certification?

The PMP certification is recognized by most large companies and government institutions around the world. More and more companies even require that every person involved in project management activities has a PMP® certificate. This is a high class confirmation of not only knowledge and familiarity with global standards in a given field but also professional practice.

Requirements to obtain a PMP® certificate

In order to obtain a PMP® certificate it is necessary to meet the educational and professional experience requirements which are verified during the exam registration process.

Then each candidate must demonstrate an acceptable and convincing level of project management knowledge, tested during the PMP® certification exam.

I have my PMP certification – what next?

As part of the CCR (Continuing Certification Requirements) program, PMP® title holders are required to be active in the professional field and undergo continuing education. The certificate is granted for a period of 3 years and during this time 60 PDU (Professional Development Unit) points need to be earned in order to renew it. At the same time you have to pay a renewal fee of $150 (for PMI® members – $60).

PDUs are earned through participation in various courses and professional trainings, publications in the field of project management or active participation in PMI® association.

What amounts do I need to invest in PMP® certification?

PMP® exam

The PMP® exam is exactly the same throughout the world. It is prepared by the Institute in the form of a test consisting of 200 questions in English, of which 25 questions are randomly rejected and not scored. The exam is supervised by a two-person committee from the Project Management Institute (PMI). In order to pass the exam you must correctly answer a minimum of 106 questions within 4 hours (depending on the variable pass rate set by PMI at a given time).

The exams take place in Poland in computer-based form (Computer Based Test) and are held at a Prometric facility authorized by PMI®. From 1 July 2019 PMI® certification exams will be held at Pearson VUE authorised centres.

In Krakow:

INFINITY (Prometric Test Center)

Al. 29 Listopada 130, room 425
